Peggy Senior did this lovely winter scene. I think I will include it in the calendar for 2018. Peggy paints with the Golden Years Art Group in Darndale where I teach.
The Gemini Art Group held a very successful exhibition in the Red Stables. I was delighted to meet two of the artists pictured below.
Michael O Keeffe of the Golden Years Art Group in Darndale where I teach has painted this marvelous picture in acrylics of lady Mary Worthly Montagu after Charles Jarvis.
I visited the famous Uffizi Gallery in Florence. One of the paintings I saw was done by Jacopo Pontormo and was a portrait of the founder of the Medici banking dynasty. His name was Cosimo de Giovanni de’ Medici (1389 -1464) and he was also a patron of the arts. ( A lot of the paintings were under glass and took from the vibrancy of the brush strokes leaving me slightly dissapointed with the overall reputation of the Uffizi.)
Puchini (1858-1924) was a famous Italian composer born in Lucca whose operas were performed in the opera house in Monticatini Terme in Tuscany in Northern Italy.

Mary was exausted walking in the heat in Lucca,a walled city in Tuscany and took a well earned rest.
