I visited Eason’s in Blanchardstown Shopping Center today. It was very busy because of the bad weather. Just inside the door was a counter packed with all the relevant books relating to 1916 and the Rebellion. Michael Barry’s book “Courage Boys we are winning ” was on display. I spotted Conor Kostic’s book on Michael O’ Hanrahan one of the leaders of the Easter rising. Conor is a member of the Irish Writers Union and I enjoyed his last book on “Strongbow”. Eason’s are a major book outlet and their main retail outlet is on O’Connell street (formerly Sackville Street).
The building in 80 Middle Abbey Street and O’Connell Street was there since 1886 when Eason and his son bought it from W.H. Smith.
I wonder how it fared in the Rising?
