Eoin MacNeill (1867-1945) He was founder of the Irish Volunteers and their Chief -of- Staff. He sent the contoversial letter to the papers on Easter Saturday stating that the Planned Easter Rising for the Sunday was off. Joseph Mary Plunkett then took his position and with Pearse an Connolly commenced armed activities on Easter Monday a day later then intended.
